Jason Maxiell is an American basketball player currently competing for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association. Known for his tenacity and heart on the court, Maxiell has received numerous honors and awards during his career. Maxiell was chosen in the first round of the 2005 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons and spent the first eight years of his NBA career with them, before joining Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets respectively. Additionally, he spent one season at Turkish club Acibadem Universitesi playing 34 games during that season.
In 2013, he made headlines when he signed with Orlando Magic for $5 million over two seasons but was released after just one. Subsequently, he joined Charlotte Hornets for one season making him the highest paid power forward at that time.
