At 26 years old she becomes one of only the youngest ever selected to experience private spaceflight.
At first, she was reluctant to accept the offer of entering space; but after careful consideration she accepted. Preparation for her flight consisted of physical and psychological exams that demanded much of her time and energy; in her free time she engaged in yoga and meditation practices as part of this endeavor.
She is an animal enthusiast and frequently posts pictures of her pets to social media accounts. Additionally, she enjoys travelling and often plans trips with friends and family members to various parts of the world. Furthermore, she’s an ardent follower of yoga – becoming quite proficient over time – while having earned a black belt in taekwondo as well.
As a child, she suffered from osteosarcoma bone cancer which required the removal of part of her left leg and several surgeries including knee replacement and metal rod placement in her thigh bone. Over time she conquered her disease and has become an inspiration to many – she even featured in films and television shows!
Since April 2020, she has worked at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee as a physician assistant. Since joining, she has become an integral member of the fundraising organization, raising millions for cancer center services and being honored with both Louisiana Young Hero Award in 2003 and St. Jude Inspirational Woman of the Year Award in 2011.
Hayley Arceneaux has amassed an enormous fan base across social media and YouTube. She maintains active accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and Tumblr where she regularly publishes updates regarding her activities. Furthermore, Hayley recently wrote “Wild Ride,” detailing both their journey with cancer as a family unit.
