Patty MacMillan, widely acclaimed as “The Voice” in gospel music, has achieved unparalleled success. She’s a five-time Grammy winner, four-time Billboard chart-topper and four-time Dove award recipient who has sold an incredible 11 million albums worldwide.

Her career has made her a household name, with many hailing her as an inspirational singer with a voice that can range from deep low notes to an effortless high C. She is often credited with introducing contemporary gospel music and considered by many to be the best female vocalist of her time.

She is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. Additionally, she has published one book. Married to Don Peslis since 1987, she has eight children – three daughters and six sons.

Sandi Patty was born in Oklahoma City and began singing with her family at the tender age of two. Later they relocated to Anderson, Indiana where Sandi continued performing alongside her parents until her career as a singer took off.

After graduating from Crawford High School in San Diego, she continued on to Anderson University in Indiana where she studied voice with soprano Greta Dominic. Upon graduation, she was employed as a singer at area recording studios and then went on to record commercial jingles.

Her debut album, Sandi’s Song, was released in 1979 and quickly gained her a following, leading to numerous personal appearances and subsequent tours.

Her next album, Lift Up the Lord (1982), won two Dove awards and was followed by several more recordings. In 1985, her album More Than Wonderful was certified gold by the RIAA.

Even as her fame was diminishing, Patty still managed to tour in the early 1990s. She released several more albums during this period, including Forever Grateful which was certified platinum by RIAA in 2016.

In 2007, Patty was honored as an Indiana Living Legend and received the Silver Angel Award for her book Broken on the Back Row. Additionally, she has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, her career was on the rise. Unfortunately, she experienced personal difficulties as well; she divorced her first husband and had an extramarital affair with a former backup singer.

After many heartaches, Patty was able to put her life back together. In 1995 she remarried and started a family with Don Peslis as her new husband.

She currently resides with her husband and eight children in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Additionally, she works as an artist-in-residence at Crossings Community Church where she has been a member for over four decades.
