Parish first joined the Golden State Warriors before switching over to Boston Celtics in 1983 where he would remain for the rest of his career.

Additionally, he was honored as a nine-time All-Star and honored with induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. Over his career span of 1,611 NBA games he averaged 14.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game on average.

After a storied career spanning 30 years, Parish retired at 43 in August 1997. While he continued earning income as a professional basketball player and coach, his earnings were dwarfed by profits generated through real estate investments and selling his own brand of wine.
