World Poker Tour and New York-based contemporary artist Daniel Arsham have announced a partnership. Arsham designed this year’s WPT Season XXI trophies and will host a special poker event at Perrotin in New York City on September 29 emceed by WPT commentator Tony Dunst to coincide with an exhibition from him and raise money for Cooper Union’s art program through proceeds of this tournament.

Arsham’s work often explores the idea of archaeology through fictional fossilization of contemporary objects and architecture, employing materials typically associated with classical sculpture, such as quartz, gypsum cement and blue calcite – materials typically associated with classical statuette making their debut here. Arsham creates his new vision by blurring boundaries between past, present and future.

His sculpture has been featured in museums including PS1 in New York, Athens Bienniale in Greece and Miami Museum of Contemporary Art. Arsham has collaborated with renowned artists, including Pharrell Williams and modern dance choreographer Merce Cunningham. Additionally, he founded Snarkitecture; its design firm projects have included Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York as well as Miami Marlins Park.
