The company currently operates fifteen stores in Western Pennsylvania, and four locations in West Virginia. In addition, the store has three locations in Ohio. As of April, it will employ twenty full-time employees and ten to fifteen part-time workers. The Elkins location is the company’s 22nd store.
In addition to the store’s Elkins location, Busy Beaver recently acquired a True Value Hardware store in Latrobe, Pa. The store has been in the area since 1983. The original owners are retiring, but most of the employees are staying on. The store will be managed by Al Egner, a 33-year store veteran.
Busy Beaver was founded in 1962 and has continued to grow into new locations and formats. In fact, since joining the True Value co-op, the company has opened three new locations and remodeled five existing locations. It also plans to remodel four additional locations in 2017 and 2018. The company has also opened a new home improvement center in Elkins, WV.
