Bolt-neck models didn’t follow the same serial number sequence as their neck-through cousins. Guitars with two-digit serial numbers were serialized using a (YYXXX) format, and the last three digits were production numbers. This led to an odd situation where guitars with 84532 serial numbers could have been made in 1982 or 1983. Fortunately, this was resolved by 1993, when the 2+3 serial numbers began to follow a more consistent sequence.
